Rendez-vous des Jeunes Mathématiciennes et Informaticiennes 2023

This year again, the RJMI - Rendez-vous des Jeunes Mathématiciennes et Informaticiennes took place at the University of Strasbourg on April 17, 18 and 19, 2023. We welcomed 14 highly motivated high school girls for 3 exciting days around mathematics and computer science.

During these days, they worked in small groups on complex mathematics and computer science topics under the supervision of IRMA PhD students. They also attended lectures given by N. Wach and C. Courtes (IRMA), participated in a workshop on stereotypes, and exchanged with students and researchers during a speed-meeting workshop. The traditional final presentation of their research work gathered at IRMA a crowd of proud parents and supervisors : let's hope that this is only the beginning of extraordinary adventures for them !

Rendez-vous des Jeunes Mathématiciennes et Informaticiennes 2022

After a break of more than 2 years, the RJMI - Rendez-vous des Jeunes Mathématiciennes et Informaticiennes were back at the University of Strasbourg on February 17, 18 and 19, 2022. 13 highly motivated high school girls from all over France were welcomed at the university for this event, which allowed them to affirm their interest in mathematics and computer science and to learn about their future orientation.
During 3 days, they worked in small groups on mathematics and computer science topics under the supervision of IRMA PhD students. They also attended lectures given by C. Essert (ICube) and A. Rechtman (IRMA), participated in a workshop on stereotypes, and exchanged with students and researchers during a speed-meeting workshop. At the end of these busy days, each group presented their work in the presence of their parents who came in large numbers to listen to them in the IRMA conference room.

What are RJMI ?

For two to three days, about twenty high school girls work on open problems in mathematics and computer science (especially algorithms), meet with mathematicians and computer scientists, and reflect on the place that these subjects can have in their studies and their future career path. The objective is to encourage them to affirm their interest in mathematics and computer science and to formulate an ambitious project for scientific studies.
These events allow young girls with a strong interest in mathematics and computer science to discover higher education and scientific research, to discuss informally with other young enthusiasts, to meet students and professionals, and to leave with resources and food for thought about their future.
RJMI sessions are organized throughout France during the year, in several cities : all the dates and programs are available on the Filles et Maths website (link below).
